====== Beelzebub ====== //A character from the [[blood_opera|Blood Opera]] series.// A demon from a now lost pantheon. While not the most powerful cosmic force, Beelzebub is a constant source of frustration for cultists. Demonic incantations require adherence to strict requirements. Beelzebub is notorious for sabotaging cultists' efforts, causing the intended demon to either ignore or punish the cultist. In cases where the cultist is ignored, Beelzebub will sometimes masquerade as the intended deity. Many cultists have inadvertently ended up in servitude to Beelzebub, thinking their contracts were with a different cosmic force. Many cultists offer a pre-emptive sacrifice to Beelzebub before their main ritual to avoid this fate. Beelzebub's reputation as Lord of Flies comes from ancient rituals requiring animal sacrifice. Flies, which were common and hard to avoid, were thought to make sacrifices unclean- making them an ideal vehicle for disrupting rituals. One notable example of this is the [[father_of_flies|Father of Flies]]. The order dedicated to keeping Beelzebub in check are known as the Myiagros.
